Instructions for Boxstretcher Use
Important: Boxstretcher does not fit all pickup trucks. Fits full size Chevy GMC 1999 to present, full size Ford 1987 to present, full size Dodge 1984 to present, Dodge Dakota 1986 to present, also Avalanche, Nissan Titan and possibly others. Check for a tailgate latching stud. Comes preassembled for these models, except Ford. Ford owners need to change to larger 5/8" roller. All in a handy storage case.
Features: Length adjustment-loosen jam nut, adjust by turning threaded rod in or out of clevis, retighten jam nut. Always maintain at least ten full turns of threaded rod in clevis. Change rollers-remove one screw, push out pin, change roller, install pin, retighten screw.
Installation Instructions: Locate the studs on the inside of your truck bed (figure 1). Slip boxstretcher clamp over stud and hand tighten until it will hold itself in place (figure 2). Don't over-tighten. Rubber plug in threaded rod can be damaged from excessive tightening. Simply loosen jam nut to get correct compression. Retighten jam nut. Logo needs to be facing up. Check pictures for additional help. Close tailgate to check alignment (figure 3). Now, open tailgate and repeat on the other side. The hose clamp is used for harsh conditions that could jar the tail gate. The hose clamp goes around the slotted flange which is used when removing the tailgate (figure 4). Hand tighten hose clamp. When installed correctly, the clamp will cover over slot and tailgate cannot be removed. Also acts as a theft deterrent.
